It finally happened, the inevitable end caught up to me. Lowes as a company isn’t to keen on keeping people around for a while. Hmmm, I think that since I’m doing college anyways and don’t have time for a real job, I’ll try to be a part time librarian, should be relatively peaceful.... right?

Sucks to hear but near-minimum wage jobs are never secure. Good thing is they’re just as easy to pick up as it is to leave/get fired.
You mean a library page? A librarian typically needs a master’s degree.

Yeah, library page, I couldn’t remember the proper nomenclature. They are hiring one at my local library, I’ve known everyone there for years, and I’m always there studying so it would work out perfectly.

Should also say sorry to hear :(
I am also jobless as of a week from now, unless I go back to the stupid Tim Hortons nearby, which I am LOATHE to do....

I work part-time at the local library as a clerk and doing tech programming and workshops. I very much enjoy it, but the hours are quite scattered. Minimum wage here is $10.60 CAD or so an hour, but I get paid something like $15.30 an hour there.

Sounds perfect dude. And you can easily pick up all the books you want to read.

Hey, I’ve been fired/let go lots of times and I turned out okay.

Any reason? My friends dad has worked there for over 10 years. If I expected anyone to get fired from there it would be him.

The library is never a bad place to work so long as you’re not really there for money. Academic research libraries are even more interesting places. When I went back to school seven years ago, I took a part-time student assistant job (that I didn’t really need at the time) in the Archives and Special Collections Dept. of the university library. Eventually they offered me a real, full-time staff position and I’ve been there ever since.
